I was introduced to painting at the young age of 9 when my mother not able to find a babysitter took me to her art class given in the home of a women artist/instructor. The class was specifically oil painting and not only did I learn a lot I took to it, from how to draw, using the color tubes of oils, mediums, brushes and then creating one of a formidable (for my years) painting that I still have hanging in my home. I never stopped thinking about those early lessons and unable to go to classes I started to copy the Impressionist artists work in a makeshift studio in my home. Years later I took many art classes. Eventually I began to work as a professional artist on my own. My work includes representational painting as well as abstract, collage, mixed media, assemblage, sculpture, and many other mediums. I am drawn by color, movement and narrative in my work as well as social commentary. My farmscapes keep the farms and their lands alive as we continue to lose them to urban blight and the industrialization of farming. My cityscapes depict our older buildings that are haphazardly torn down and replaced by steel and glass structures. I am trying to preserve our built history as well as the loss of our farms in my paintings. Now-a-days countries take human rights carelessly, global warming is a reality, homes are lost to foreclosures, too many killed from guns. I can only hope that the truth of my art comes through. I am blessed with creativity and love with what I do .
